    Frequently Asked Questions

What are sloppy joe supposed to taste like?

Sloppy joes are a classic American dish that typically consist of ground beef, onions, breadcrumbs, ketchup or tomato sauce, and sometimes BBQ sauce. They can be served open-faced on a bun with condiments on the side or more commonly in a sandwich form where the meat is sandwiched between two pieces of bread.
There are many variations to sloppy joes across America, so it's important to experiment and find your favorite one. Some popular versions include black bean sloppy joes, buffalo chicken sloppy Joe sandwiches, sweet potato sloppies (made with mashed potatoes instead of ground beef), bacon wrapped slider version made with avocado ranch dressing instead of ketchup or tomato sauce) and even chili cheese dogs!
No matter what you choose as your personal favorite version, make sure to enjoy some delicious messy goodness tonight!

Why is it called a sloppy joe?

The origins of this popular American dish are murky, but some say it originated during the Great Depression as a way to use up leftover hamburger. At that time, many people could not afford fresh meat, so they would cook ground beef into a loaf and slap ketchup on it. This concoction was eventually nicknamed "sloppy joe" by workers who ate them for lunch at their jobs.
Today, sloppy joes are widely consumed all over the world and can be made with pretty much any type of protein (or vegetable) you like. They can also contain variations such as BBQ sauce or hot sauce poured on top before serving. So if you're looking for a quick and easy meal that is sure to please your taste buds, give sloppy joes a try!

What type of food is a sloppy joe?

You can use unsweetened grape, apple, or chicken broth in place of wine if you want. Although it won't have the same flavour as wine, it will still flavour the dish and aid in deglazing it. You should cook the chicken for 10 minutes longer if you are using extra-large chicken thighs.
