Angel Food Cake With Strawberry Sauce is the sweetest creation to come out of The Kitchen's kitchen in a long time. It was born out of a childhood desire, and it came together like a well-oiled machine. It's made with our famous Vanilla Cake, Chocolate Fudge Sauce, and Sprinkles.

There’s something about chocolate that just gets us. We cannot deny the taste of a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth slice. From the outside, it looks simple and easy to make but for anyone who has done it before knows it takes more than a little know-how.

This sweet starts with a store-bought Angel Food Cake. From there I dressed it up with with a simple homemade strawberry sauce and dark chocolate shavings. The chocolatey dessert is colorful, light and a real crowd pleaser!

The Recipe for the Strawberry Sauce is from, Oprah.com

    • Ingredients:
    • 2 pints fresh strawberries, rinsed and sliced
    • 2 cups fresh orange juice
    • 1 cup sugar (I substituted sugar in the raw)
    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
    • 2 tsp. lemon zest (I left out)

    Directions:

    To prepare the strawberry sauce:

    • Combine the orange juice, sugar and strawberries in a saucepan and bring to a boil. When the sugar has melted and the strawberries are softened (about 5 minutes), strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve and set aside. Remember to catch the seeds.
    • Pour the strawberry juice mixture back into the same saucepan. Then, using a separate pot, combine 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and ¼ cup of strained strawberry juice and mix until there are no lumps. Add this to the rest of the strawberry juice mixture and turn up the heat. Using a wooden spoon, stir until it begins to boil again and has thickened (about 1 to 2 minutes).
    • Pour into a Pyrex glass, and cool for about 30 minutes. Then, cover with plastic wrap and place the sauce in the refrigerator. You can make this recipe two days ahead of time and keep refrigerated. The sauce should be served cold.
    • Decorate the platter and the top of the cake with the chocolate shavings, sliced strawberries, and powdered sugar. When the cake is ready to serve, drizzle each slice with the chilled strawberry sauce. Enjoy!
